NJALA

Njala: A Village by the Water, Full of Potential

Njala, meaning "Water Side" in the Mende dialect, began as a simple farm hut before evolving into a village. Located just two miles from Jolu and surrounded by water, the village is accessible only via fragile, handmade plank bridges. During Catch the Dream’s first visit, one bridge broke, highlighting the urgent need for improved infrastructure.

The people of Njala face significant challenges, including limited access to clean water, healthcare, and education. Despite these obstacles, the community remains determined to thrive. Catch the Dream is focusing on empowering the women of Njala by providing the resources needed to improve agriculture, access to clean water, and sanitation. With this support, we aim to help Njala build a sustainable and prosperous future for its people.
